UN Chief Urges Morocco-Algeria Dialogue Amid Sahara Dispute Tensions

In a report submitted to the Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara, Antonio Guterres expressed concern about the diplomatic crisis between Morocco and Algeria. He invited the two neighbors to dialogue.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations recalled the seriousness of the situation, expressing once again "his concern about the deterioration of relations between Morocco and Algeria". A crisis that could hinder the political process aimed at resolving the regional dispute over the Sahara, he added.
To this end, Guterres has "encouraged the two neighbors to find a way forward to repair their relations, including in support of regional cooperation, peace and security in the region".
