UN Chief Praises Morocco, 46 Other Nations for SDG Progress Amid Pandemic

The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, congratulated Morocco and other countries that presented their voluntary national review on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) this year despite the Covid-19 pandemic. A presentation made during the UN High-Level Political Forum held virtually in New York.
"I congratulate the 47 countries presenting their Voluntary National Reviews this year, despite the difficult circumstances," said Mr. Guterres, noting that "their reports confirm that our challenges have become increasingly urgent, as Covid-19 has exacerbated vulnerabilities around the world".
"We need concrete, bold and achievable solutions inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals," said the UN chief. He called on participants in this annual global conclave to "fully grasp the crisis facing all countries and pay particular attention to those with already limited economic resources".
"Let’s share our experiences, understand what works and what can be replicated or scaled up. And renew our determination to adopt a multilateral response that directs recovery efforts towards the SDGs," he said.
On Monday, Morocco presented its second Voluntary National Review on the progress made in realizing the SDGs since 2016.
