Cheating Surges 116% in Morocco's Baccalaureate Exams, Over 4,000 Cases Reported

As old as exams themselves, cheating has a bright future ahead of it. Candidates continue to take risks despite the threats and measures taken. A 116% increase is announced in Morocco compared to last year.

Whether they opt for old cheat sheets or take a quick look at their smartphone, candidates for the baccalaureate show imagination when it comes to cheating. According to the statement of the Minister of National Education, Saaid Amzazi, the attempts at cheating in the baccalaureate this year concern 4,235 files and reports.

Before the House of Advisors, the minister stated that they will be presented before commissions for exemplary sanctions. Moreover, 133 cases have already been referred to the authorities. They concern cases of cheating with electronic means or verbal violence against the supervising teachers.

Furthermore, the minister announces that the exam results will be known on June 20, while the make-up session will take place from July 5 to 8 for all branches and streams. The results of the make-up session will be announced on July 11.
