Casablanca Zoo Reopening Delayed: City Seeks $8 Million for Rehabilitation

The municipal council of Casablanca is facing a challenge: urgently mobilize the sum of 80 million dirhams to rehabilitate and equip the Aïn Sebaâ zoo, which should soon open its doors.
The authorities of the economic capital of the kingdom must find this amount to facilitate the transfer from abroad of the animals of the zoo, the management of which has recently been entrusted to the company Dream Village. In application of the decisions resulting from the session of last Wednesday, the Council will approve, during its next meeting scheduled for October, the contract for the delegated management of the Aïn Sebaâ zoo to this company, reports Hespress.
This zoo is one of the pending projects in the city of Casablanca. While it was supposed to start its activities since 2014, this park has remained closed to the public, leading to a deterioration of its equipment, which requires renovation work before the opening of the zoo covering an area of about 13 hectares, of which ten hectares are intended to accommodate more than 45 animals, and three dedicated to play and leisure areas.
