Casablanca Police Bust Rental Car Theft Ring Using Forged Documents

Four individuals suspected of forming a criminal network specializing in rental car theft, document forgery and fraud were arrested on Monday, October 7 in Casablanca. The operation was carried out jointly by the city’s judicial police brigade and the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The investigation was launched following several complaints filed by car rental agencies. The victims reported a well-established modus operandi: individuals would rent vehicles using fake identity documents before reselling them.
The investigations allowed the police to trace the suspects back to Dar Bouazza and Oulad Azzouz, where they were arrested during simultaneous operations. On site, the investigators seized three cars, seven fake stamps of public institutions and a suspicious medical certificate. The origin of the vehicles is currently being verified.
The four men were taken into custody for the needs of the investigation, conducted under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office. The objective is now to shed light on the entire case and determine the extent of their criminal activities.
