Casablanca Overhauls Waste Collection System, Urges Residents to Adapt

The residents of Casablanca are called upon to take out their trash in the evening to allow the trucks to collect it during the hours of traffic fluidity. This situation has been in effect since Tuesday, June 25, 2019. This is what the authorities of the metropolis demand, who have just entrusted the delegated management of cleanliness to two new companies, for more efficiency.
Nothing will be the same again in Casablanca, where chaos has long reigned in terms of waste management. Indeed, with the entry into force of the delegated management of cleanliness, entrusted to two new companies, new behaviors must be observed by the populations.
The Wali of Casablanca, Saïd Ahmidouch, took advantage of the launch of this new experience to express his disappointment with the previous contracts signed by the economic capital with private companies for the collection of waste. "The previous experience did not give the expected results and the transition period was just as difficult," said the authority, who is thus calling on the two new companies to be more rigorous in their work, to restore Casablanca’s former reputation in terms of cleanliness.
According to Le360, which reports the information, with the entry into force of these new delegated waste management contracts, which started on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, "it is a new chapter that will have to correct the many dysfunctions that this vital sector for the health of citizens has experienced for years".
Having long been a difficult equation to solve for the city authorities, the management of household waste collection is entering a decisive phase of results obligation. And the two new companies are called upon to "rid the Casablancans of the hell of garbage," indicates the same source.
