Casablanca Official Accused of Immigration Fraud Scheme

A PAM (Authenticity and Modernity Party) elected official in Casablanca is the subject of a complaint for fraud and issuing bad checks. Candidates for immigration to Europe accuse him of fraud.

It all allegedly started with a "deal" between a municipal councilor in the Sidi Moumen district, who is also a member of the PAM political bureau, and a man residing in Berrechid. The latter expressed his desire to reach Spain, and the elected official promised to help him in this regard in exchange for money. He gave him 25,000 dirhams and then sent him 5,000 dirhams by transfer through a money transfer agency. He then sent 25,000 for the account of one of his friends, also tempted by the adventure. But things did not go as planned.

The PAM leader "gave them an appointment, but he disappeared from circulation," reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. The one who sent him the 55,000 dirhams then decides to go to the address of the local elected official in Casablanca. He will not see him. He runs into his sister who reassured him and asked him to give her brother an additional delay. In the process, the victim "falls" on the photo of the local elected official on social networks on which it is mentioned that he is accused of fraud and fraud. He contacts him and demands reimbursement. Cornered, the municipal councilor gives him two checks of 50,000 dirhams, but without provision.

Annoyed, the victim filed a complaint for fraud and issuing bad checks with the prosecutor of the king near the court of first instance of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca. An investigation is underway to shed light on this case.
