Casablanca Launches Massive Housing Project to Relocate 62,000 Slum Families Before 2030 World Cup

The authorities of Casablanca are working on the construction of 62,000 social housing units to accommodate the inhabitants of the slums of the metropolis and its surroundings (Nouaceur, Médiouna and Mohammedia), before the 2030 World Cup.
Some 62,000 families living in the slums will be rehoused in the 62,000 apartments under construction in the city of Casablanca. The project aims to rid the economic capital of the kingdom of the slums, as part of the preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
The work has been entrusted to about ten real estate companies, reports Hespress, specifying that a budget of around 18.6 billion dirhams has been allocated by the authorities for the realization of this project. This amount will be mobilized with the participation of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of National Land Use Planning, the State Property Directorate, and the beneficiaries.
