Casablanca Invests Millions in Massive Public Toilet Overhaul

The city of Casablanca has allocated around 1,408 million centimes for the installation of several sanitation and toilet facilities in the 16 districts.
For years, the people of Casablanca have been constantly complaining about "hygienically" unusable public toilets. To relieve themselves, some did not hesitate to storm the public space or the toilets located in cafes. With this amount, it was decided to build 640 toilets, divided into 128 sanitary facilities in the different districts of Casablanca.
The work has already started in the districts of Sidi Belyout, Anfa, Maârif and Hay Hassani. These are sanitary facilities consisting of five toilets, each with two toilets for men and two for women, pending the construction of toilets reserved for people with disabilities, reports Hespress.
The National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG), under the University Ibn Tofail of Kenitra, conducted a study which showed that the lack of public toilets is due to the fact that the inhabitants are not used to it. The study also indicated that 90.5% of women use public toilets compared to 79.7% of men.
