Casablanca’s Iconic Corniche Razed for 2030 World Cup Makeover

A large-scale demolition operation began this Friday on the Aïn Diab Corniche in Casablanca, marking a key step in the city’s preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
Several well-known establishments, including the recreational area "Paradise" and the historic Riad Salam hotel, are affected by this rehabilitation project, reports Rue20.
The local authorities have closed access to the area to launch the construction site, which aims to raze what official documents describe as "anarchic constructions". The decision, taken "at the highest level", is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Wali of the region, Mohamed Mhidia, who must apply a ministerial decree in the coming days.
This project is part of a broader rehabilitation program for this historic tourist area of the metropolis. The objective is to modernize the corniche to align it with international standards in preparation for the major events that Morocco is about to host.
