Casablanca Faces Potential Lockdown After Eid Al Mawlid as COVID-19 Cases Surge

The city of Casablanca could be subject to a total reconfinement in the coming days or weeks. The threat was brandished by the director of the virology laboratory at the University Hassan II in Casablanca.
The authorities of the economic capital could be led to take drastic measures in the coming days. The epidemiological situation in the city is more than worrying and fully justifies a reconfinement, estimates the official.
This decision could take effect as soon as the Eid Al Mawlid holidays are over, to avoid an epidemic resurgence scenario during the winter period.
It should be recalled that the epidemiological situation is increasingly worrying in Casablanca, and despite the restrictive measures, the counters continue to go haywire. More than 2,000 infections have been recorded in the last 24 hours and 16 deaths are to be deplored.
