Casablanca Extends COVID-19 Lockdown as Cases Surge, Schools Remain Closed

To contain the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic, the city of Casablanca will remain closed for an additional 14 days.
The epidemiological situation in the economic capital is becoming increasingly worrying. The number of positive cases is still rising, as are the deaths. In order to contain this health crisis, restrictive measures have been imposed by the government.
For this reason, Casablanca will remain closed for an additional 14 days.
Primary, secondary and higher education schools will remain closed. Distance learning must continue. Neighborhood markets will have to close at 3pm. Cafes and businesses at 8pm and restaurants at 9pm. The curfew is maintained from 10pm to 5am. Excluded are health and security personnel, employees in vital and sensitive sectors and freight transport whose night work is justified.
All entrances and exits to the prefecture of Casablanca will remain closed. Also, movements in and out of the city must be subject to a special authorization issued by the local authorities.
The authorities urge the population to strictly respect the restrictive measures, distancing, wearing masks and hygiene rules.
