Two new 26 km tramway lines will soon be built in Casablanca to ease traffic congestion. A total of 39 stops will be served.
Carrying out a number of mass public transport projects to streamline traffic in Casablanca. This is the recommendation of the city’s urban travel plan. "The primary objective and ambition of all these projects is really to give Casablanca residents a real alternative to the use of private cars," explains Shada Taïb, communication director of Casa Transport, to RFI. "What we observe is that the majority of trips in Casablanca are home-to-work or home-to-study trips. These are more or less compulsory trips."
"The objective is to bring distances closer, to open up economic opportunities, educational opportunities, work, and others to all residents, regardless of their place of residence," she added. These two lines, which are scheduled to be put into service at the end of 2023, will bring the number of mass public transport lines in the city to six: four tramway lines and two busway lines.
