Casablanca Cracks Down on Illegal Weekly Markets Across City

The authorities of Casablanca are carrying out operations in the prefectures of the city to prevent the return of weekly markets.
Prohibit weekly markets in the neighborhoods of Casablanca. This is the objective of these operations carried out on the instructions of Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region. Last Sunday, the city authorities prevented the holding, on Boulevard Mohammed VI, of a weekly market dedicated to the sale of birds and dogs, reports Al Akhbar.
Currently, the authorities are mobilizing to prevent the return of these weekly markets in Souk El Arbaa, in the Sidi Othmane neighborhood, and on Boulevard Mohammed VI. These markets are mostly animated at night and allow merchants of various products (clothing, kitchen utensils, etc.) to earn a living.
In addition, a Sbata market was recently the victim of a fire that destroyed nearly 24 shops, the daily informs, adding that a judicial investigation has been opened, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the causes and circumstances of this fire.
