Casablanca Cracks Down on Illegal Markets Amid COVID-19 Concerns

A large-scale campaign to free the public domain was launched last Monday by the local authorities of Casablanca.
These spaces have been stormed by unauthorized merchants, with all the risks this entails for the health of citizens during this period of COVID-19 spread.
To force offenders to comply with the injunctions imposed by the state of health emergency, a market set up in El Massira was freed by the local authorities of Casablanca, reports Barlamane. The purpose of this liberation was to prevent the uncontrolled gathering of crowds.
Many markets set up in the city without prior authorization have been removed by the local authorities of Casablanca, since the establishment of the state of health emergency measure, in an attempt to cope with the spread of COVID-19.
