Casablanca City Hall Cuts 17 Top Managers in Major Restructuring

The implementation of the project to overhaul the organization of the town hall has caused a wave of layoffs in Casablanca, including many managers.
It is a real slaughter within the Casablanca town hall. In total, 17 managers at the head of directorates and services have been dismissed, reports the Arabic-language daily Assabah. The mayor, Nabila Rmili, informed the Wali of the region of her decision at the end of November. In accordance with the new organization of the town hall adopted by the elected officials during the previous term, reducing the number of directorates and services from 60 to 40 and involving the consolidation and change of certain entities, or even their disappearance, some old directorates have given way to new ones. For example, the Sustainable Development Directorate has given way to the Urban Planning, Heritage and Legal Affairs Directorate.
This wave of layoffs is not to the liking of many town hall officials who denounce a policy of double standards. They blame the mayor for having kept in their positions other managers, whose entities have also been affected by changes, or for having appointed certain individuals without proof of the necessary skills to carry out their missions.
