Casablanca Building Scandal: Falsified Plans Endanger Residents, 12 Suspects Face Judge

A twelve-story building on Abdelmoumen Avenue is at the center of a large judicial case in Casablanca. Its construction plan, which is believed to have been falsified, shows structural modifications deemed dangerous for public safety, a threat illustrated by a partial collapse that occurred in the past.

It is this alleged falsification that led twelve people before the investigating judge on Thursday. The original plan, fortunately preserved thanks to the Rokhas platform, contrasts sharply with the modified version, while other essential documents have mysteriously disappeared. The accusations are serious: falsification, use of forgery, fraud, and even appropriation of vital spaces reserved for civil protection.

Among the suspects are key players in the local real estate and administrative sectors: a renowned developer, a former deputy mayor, engineers, and various officials, including a former land registrar. All are targeted by a complaint initiated by the King’s Attorney General, following alerts raised by the victims.

These victims, among whom are Moroccans residing abroad, have seen their residential projects blocked and their rights violated. They have appealed to the National Authority for Probity, Prevention and Fight against Corruption, accusing the developer of using his influence and complicity. The investigation by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police has also revealed an aspect related to a housing cooperative and a possible "revenge" as a motive, after infractions were disclosed. The case could extend to other projects of the developer.
