Casablanca Authorities Launch Sweeping Dismissals Ahead of Major Sporting Events

After the authority agents, it is the turn of the moqaddems and chioukhs intervening in the Casablanca-Settat region to be relieved of their posts by the services of the Ministry of the Interior.
Moqaddems and chioukhs risk their positions. The local authorities of the Casablanca agglomeration are preparing a vast clean-up campaign, reports Assabah. This decision is justified by the Ministry of the Interior’s desire to put an end to the total anarchy in urban planning that prevails in the outskirts of Casablanca, including the areas bordering the city’s access roads, before the sporting events of 2025 and 2030.
It has also been found that some moqaddems have made their attributions a source of illicit income. "Anarchic housing has become a thriving activity in their area of intervention and clandestine workshops for the manufacture of legally prohibited plastic bags have multiplied," notes the daily.
Before this vast campaign, another one had targeted the authority agents, of all ranks, in the province of Nouaceur. Several caids have been transferred to other positions. As for the governor’s chief of staff, he has been appointed to head a district.
