Candidate Faces Racist Attacks Over Arab Heritage in French Legislative Race

Hanane Mansouri has been the target of racist insults on social media since the announcement of her candidacy in the 8th constituency of Isère to defend the LR-RN alliance in the upcoming early legislative elections scheduled for June 30 and July 7. The 23-year-old woman claims not to be "impressed" by these attacks on her origins.

"House Arab, Beurette, dirty mop... While the left insults me on my origins, I prefer to fight alongside the true patriotic universalists. These racist attacks from the left do not impress me, on the contrary they motivate me!" she affirmed on Monday in a post on X.

In an interview with Le Dauphiné Libéré, Hanane Mansouri said she had received "thousands" of such messages. "It doesn’t affect me personally, on the contrary it reinforces the idea that the fight I am leading is the right one," insisted the LR-RN candidate, who announced her intention to file a complaint.

A law student in Grenoble, Hanane Mansouri is supported by Éric Ciotti, president of the Republicans, and members of Jordan Bardella’s team who have shown her their solidarity. The former president of the Young Republicans of Isère is convinced that "the alliance with the RN was the only political option" given the current situation in France. "I have only one enemy, the far left and the devastating policy of Emmanuel Macron."
