Cancer Survivor to Trek 60km Across Moroccan Desert for Awareness

Isabelle Capdevielle, a woman from Sens suffering from breast cancer, has taken on a major challenge: to complete a 60 km trek in the Moroccan desert, despite her health imposing limits on her!

At 47, Isabelle, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, is not discouraged by the disease. Suffering from fibromyalgia, and being exposed to other tumors due to the Li-Fraumeni syndrome, this driving school instructor still believes in life and wants to prove it.

Indeed, the woman from Sens plans to participate in the Rose Trip, a 100% female trek in the Moroccan desert, which will be held from October 29 to November 3. "I want to raise awareness among people, show them that there is also something positive in the disease," explains Isabelle Capdevielle to lyonne.fr. And she adds that "It’s a message of hope. As long as we are standing and have the desire, we can do things."

An important stage on the course will be Merzouga. Here, Isabelle will be joined by two friends. Together, these women filled with courage and who carry within them the desire to overcome the evil, will walk the dunes for three days of orientation, over a total of about 60 kilometers, details the same source.

In this exercise, although difficult, and which they have never tried, the three women will be equipped with a "topographic protractor and a map", which will allow them to "find all the beacons". Confident, the vice-president of the association to support people with cancer, and her friends will be assisted by a medical team throughout this trek.

But before the deadline, the trio will have to mobilize the necessary resources to make this project a reality, the cost of which is 7,270 euros. "Our budget will have to be finalized by August 31," says Isabelle Capdevielle, who does not intend to give up.
