Campus Fire at Morocco’s Oujda University Injures 24 Students, Four Seriously

A fire broke out on Monday around 6:00 am at Mohammed 1st University in Oujda, more precisely in a pavilion of the university campus. Several students were injured.
According to local authorities, there are twenty-four injured, including students burned to varying degrees. There are also cases of asphyxiation, a case of psychological trauma and various injuries recorded in other victims.
Started at 6:00 am, the fire could only be brought under control at 7:30 am by the Civil Protection services. The 24 students were taken to the emergency room of the Al Farabi regional hospital in Oujda. Four of them, whose injuries are more serious and require more care, were transferred to the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Oujda.
An investigation has been opened by the security services to identify the causes of the fire.
