Call Center Engineer Arrested for Alleged $220,000 Embezzlement Scheme

A state engineer working in a call center in the Technopolis zone in Salé has been placed in preventive detention. He is accused of stealing the sum of 220,000 euros.
The engineer was arrested and placed in custody after an investigation supervised by the cybercrime unit of the regional security of Salé, following accusations made against him by a large company specializing in the marketing of high-end products, which accuses him of having embezzled funds transferred by its clients. "The suspect held a position of responsibility within this company, whose headquarters was inaugurated three years ago. The company had placed its trust in this engineer who, instead of transferring the payments for sold products to the company’s account, redirected them to his own account," reports Assabah.
According to the company, the engineer embezzled nearly 220,000 euros. "Preliminary investigations have confirmed his involvement in this case," specifies the daily. The prosecutor’s office has decided to pursue him for "crimes of fraudulent access to an automated data processing system with the aim of committing fraud and causing harm." Brought before the competent judge, "the engineer attempted to provide erroneous information regarding the financial targeting of the international company, but a computer audit confirmed the transfer of the sums in euros to his bank account," adds the publication. The King’s Prosecutor ordered his placement in provisional detention.
