CAF Clears Morocco in CHAN 2023 Dispute, Rejects Algeria’s Claim

More than a month after the holding of the African Championship of Local Players (CHAN) in Algeria, the disciplinary committee of CAF met in Cairo, to rule on the non-participation of the Moroccan national team in this competition.
After examining the file, the committee concluded that the Moroccan selection was not able to travel and participate in the CHAN due to circumstances totally beyond its control. It thus rejects the claim for damages filed by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The body stresses that in this case, "no sanction of any kind is imposed on the FRMF."
The disciplinary committee took the opportunity of the session to send a warning to the FAF regarding the hostile statements against Morocco, made by Zwelivelile Mandela during the opening ceremony of the CHAN on January 13
