CAF Cancels Morocco’s CHAN Matches, Reshuffles Group C Schedule

After being seized by the Organizing Committee of the Confederation of African Football for the 2022 African Nations Championship, regarding Morocco’s absence, the CAF has decided to cancel all of Morocco’s matches in Group C.
This decision, in line with the resolution of the CAF Organizing Committee for the 2022 African Nations Championship, was made public by the African football body through a press release. At the same time, it announced the repositioning of the three teams competing in Group C.
Thus, according to this rearrangement, the match that was to oppose Morocco to Madagascar has been canceled, as well as the one planned against Ghana. In accordance with the CHAN regulations, the two teams that will come out on top after the first round will qualify for the knockout stage, as Group C is now composed of only three teams after Morocco’s boycott.
It should be recalled that Morocco, the defending champion, decided to withdraw from the championship following Algeria’s refusal to open its airspace to the official carrier of the Atlas Lions (Royal Air Maroc). Even the intervention of the Confederation of African Football did not change anything.
