Brussels Police Rescue Two Sheep from Illegal Eid al-Adha Slaughter During Wedding Procession

Two sheep destined for slaughter for Eid joined a wedding procession in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Authorities were alerted to "save" the two animals.
It was the animal protection association Help Animals that reported the incident on their social media. "Unlikely scene in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean... In the middle of a wedding procession, two guests unlike any others: Suit and Wedding. Transported... not to the altar, but to the slaughterhouse. Their role in this ’celebration’? To be the main course. Yes, really," wrote the association.
Thanks to the reaction of the Brussels-West police zone officers, the two animals were recovered and taken to the police station, reports La Dernière Heure. "A surreal moment, almost comical, if it weren’t so dramatic," comments the association, specifying that the two animals "are now spending peaceful days at the Braine-le-Château shelter, in the greenery and far from anxiety."
