Moroccan Wedding Convoy Chaos: 7 Drivers Lose Licenses in Belgian Traffic Standoff

The procession of a Moroccan wedding from Charleroi blocked traffic on Saturday in Puers-Saint-Amand, in the province of Antwerp. The police intervened and the licenses of seven drivers were revoked.
The police were alerted on Saturday after 9pm about the blockage of traffic on the N16 by a wedding procession heading towards Willebroek from Tamise, reports L’avenir.
"The cars in the procession, recognizable by the ribbons adorning them, were driving slowly and with their four hazard lights on. They occupied both lanes of traffic, thus preventing other users from overtaking them," said a spokesperson for the Rivierenland police zone.
The seven drivers from Charleroi were given a 15-day license suspension, the local police reported on Monday. Tickets for malicious obstruction of traffic were issued.
