British Tourist Suffers Heart Attack During Moroccan Vacation in Marrakech

Tina Murphy, a 58-year-old English tourist from Manchester, recounts how she suffered a heart attack during her stay in Marrakech in December 2019.
The fifty-year-old says she felt pain in her arm while having breakfast in her hotel, on the third day of her stay in Marrakech. But she ignored the pain, thinking it was "heartburn". She therefore took "Gaviscon and mint tea" to calm it down. A little later the same day, Tina felt another pain in her chest, which worried her 54-year-old companion John, who called a doctor, reports The Daily Mail.
After examining her, the doctor decided to transfer her to the hospital. The 58-year-old woman was admitted to the Marrakech International Clinic where she underwent blood tests, a cardiac ultrasound and an electrocardiogram (ECG). Doctors discovered that one of her main arteries was blocked and had to perform an angioplasty on her. The operation was successful.
Tina had suffered a heart attack, medically known as myocardial infarction. It occurs when the blood supply to the heart is suddenly blocked. It manifests itself through chest pains, breathing difficulties and a feeling of weakness and anxiety. It can be caused by smoking, high blood pressure and diabetes.
