British Pedophile Suspect Appears in UK Court from Morocco Lockdown

In the midst of lockdown in Morocco, Andrew Keith McNeill, 60, from Oadby, who is being prosecuted for possession of indecent images of children, appeared before a Leicester court via videoconference. The sexagenarian admits to the facts he is accused of.

While the defendant was on vacation, he found himself stuck in Morocco after the suspension of air traffic and borders. According to statements by prosecutor Sally Bedford, the Leicestershire police had found a series of child abuse images - some of them in the most graphic category - on a computer they had seized from McNeill’s home.

Similarly, the police officers found cannabis plants growing in the suspect’s garage. Ms. Bedford indicated that the detective investigators had to use specialized software to access the files stored on McNeill’s computer. Thus, they found 23 indecent photos or videos of minors. The police specialists classified these images in the most serious category.

For his part, David Hallmark, representing McNeill, stated that when his client was questioned, he made written confessions, and that he did not obstruct the judicial investigation. "Furthermore, there is no doubt that the cannabis was for his own use," said David Hallmark. According to him, the use of software to lock internet browsing could be challenged by the defendant. "But he accepts the charges" against him, he said.

The judges declared that they were incompetent to deliberate. The case was adjourned to Leicester Crown Court to be heard next month.
