British Man Arrested in Tangier with 100,000 Face Masks Amid Coronavirus Price Surge

Customs officers arrested a British national in Tangier on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. He was about to start a truck loaded with nearly 100,000 protective masks.
The Briton, at the wheel of the truck, wanted to return to his country, where the masks would be resold at exorbitant prices, reports Le360. According to estimates, the merchandise would bring in 30 million DH.
The same source reports that the mask now costs 350 dirhams in Morocco, instead of the usual 50 dirhams. In Europe, as in England, the unit is around 70 euros. This surge in the price of the protective mask is explained by strong demand. Many want to protect themselves from the coronavirus that is raging all over the world.
For now, the British driver is in the hands of the judicial police for the needs of the investigation.
