British Consortium Wins 15-Year Contract to Operate Casablanca’s New Cruise Terminal

The National Ports Agency (ANP) has selected, at the end of a tendering process, the consortium led by the British operator Global Ports Holding (GPH) to operate the new cruise terminal at the port of Casablanca.
The British operator made this information public in a press release, stating that "the consortium will work with the ANP under a 15-year concession agreement". Global Ports Holding holds 51% of the shares in this group, Steya 40% and the Spanish company Ocean Infrastructures Management 9%, according to La Razón.
The new cruise terminal at the port of Casablanca required an investment of 715 million dirhams. With a capacity of 450,000 passengers per year, it is designed to accommodate cruise ships up to 350 meters long. This year, the new terminal will be able to accommodate 150,000 transit passengers, then 180,000 passengers from 2025, it is indicated.
"This investment, carried out by the ANP, included the construction of a new cruise quay, a cruise terminal and a maritime station meeting international standards, which has significantly increased the port’s capacity," notes Global Ports Holding, adding that this infrastructure is "the gateway for cruises to Rabat and Marrakech".
The new cruise terminal at the port of Casablanca is also "an essential stopover for cruises to the Canary Islands and the western Mediterranean, as well as for crossings between Europe and the Caribbean," the British operator, considered the world leader in cruises, further stated in its note. On April 3, it obtained the concession of the cruise port of Liverpool for 50 years.
