Brazilian Influencer Arrested in Marrakech After Altercation with Police

The information published by some English media such as The SUN that Liziane Gutierrez, former candidate of the Brazilian reality TV show "A Fazenda", had a nightmarish experience in Morocco, where she would have been forced to show her genitals to Moroccan police, are inaccurate.
Liziane Gutierrez’s arrest took place on October 31 following an altercation with police officers stationed in front of the Sofitel hotel in Marrakech, reports a source close to the case to Morocco World News, specifying that the Instagram influencer was intoxicated. Worse, "she had insulted the police and filmed them with her mobile phone. She also slapped one of them, an act that was documented by the surveillance camera near the hotel. The situation led to her arrest for provocation and violence against the police," adds the same source.
After her arrest, the reality TV star was placed in custody on the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Marrakech. Incarcerated in the Loudaya prison on November 1, she will be sentenced to one month in prison on November 8. She was released from prison on December 6.
"Prison was a nightmare when I got there. They thought I was transsexual, so I had to open my legs in front of two women and two men. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. And they looked inside me like a doctor or something, and I cried," the reality TV star recounted. Allegations contradicted by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR). In a statement sent to The Sun and Daily Star, the DGAPR stated that upon Gutierrez’s arrival at the prison, a female prison guard was assigned to accompany her in order to complete the existing prison admission procedures.
"Upon her arrival in the women’s ward, she was subjected to a thorough search by a prison employee, in accordance with the law in force. She was placed in premises intended for female detainees awaiting trial," the statement said. The influencer was also subjected to a routine medical examination by the correctional physician, a usual process to which all accused persons are subjected.
"She was housed in a fairly large cell equipped with bunk beds. The room meets sanitary, lighting, ventilation and other general health standards. From the day she entered her cell, she was able to sleep in her own bed," the DGAPR added, stating that she received a visit from a representative of the Brazilian consulate.
