Body of Missing Moroccan Woman Found in Belgian River After Bicycle Accident

The body of Imane Khraiss, the 25-year-old Moroccan who fell at the end of January into the Senne after falling from a bicycle in Eppegem (Zemst, Flemish Brabant), was found Thursday in the Nèthe, a river located in the province of Antwerp.
The young woman was returning from work on her bicycle in the night of Saturday, January 28 to Sunday, January 29, 2023, when she fell into the Senne. Her body was found Thursday, February 16 in the Nèthe, at the level of the Verger street, in Duffel, confirmed the Federal Police Missing Persons Unit to Sud Info.
Two witnesses to the accident, an elderly couple, had raised the alarm after Imane’s fall. On arrival of the firefighters on the spot, two of them had thrown themselves into the water to try to recover the victim who was still floating on the surface. In vain. The victim’s body was carried away by the strong current of the water. Only her bicycle had been found.
The police conducted searches with a drone to find Imane Khraiss. In vain. "Imane grew up in Brussels, in Evere, until her parents moved to Eppegem when she was 17, 18 years old. She was currently working as a waitress in a restaurant and still lived with her parents. She was a real ray of sunshine. She was always positive," confides one of her friends.
