Bodies of Two African Women Found on Moroccan Beach Amid Migration Crackdown

Elements of the 8th mobile military brigade recovered, on Sunday evening, January 2, the bodies of two women, originally from sub-Saharan Africa, washed up by the Atlantic on the white beach of Guelmim.
Presumably victims of an illegal immigration attempt, the remains of the two women, discovered during a combing operation of the site, were transferred to the morgue of the provincial hospital in Guelmim.
On the same day, 18 candidates for illegal immigration, originally from sub-Saharan Africa, were apprehended by the elements of the brigade, during a joint operation carried out in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie and the local authorities.
The search allowed the seizure of an inflatable canoe without an engine, as well as fuel, which were supposed to be used to ensure the crossing. An investigation has been opened by the services concerned to determine the circumstances of this case and the people involved.
