Blinken to Visit Morocco, Israel, and Algeria on Middle East Tour

The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected in Morocco next week, as part of a regional tour, according to the American site Axios.
The senior official is expected to travel to the Middle East at the end of his trip to Europe where he is accompanying, starting this Thursday, US President Joe Biden, in Brussels and then in Poland, according to the same sources, citing US and Israeli officials.
The tour will take Blinken to Israel, then to Morocco and Algeria. His initial itinerary included stops in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, but as the travel dates changed several times, these visits were dropped, the site said.
According to US officials, Blinken wants to use the tour to show that US engagement in the region continues. He is expected to arrive in Israel on Saturday evening and have meetings with Israeli officials in Jerusalem and travel to Ramallah on Sunday for talks with Palestinian officials.
According to US and Israeli officials, the US Secretary of State will travel from Israel to Morocco on Monday and from there to Algeria, the site noted, noting that in recent months there have been growing tensions between Algeria and Morocco over the Sahara issue.
