Biden Congratulates Morocco on 66th Independence Day, Highlighting 235-Year US Partnership

On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of Morocco’s Independence, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, sent a message of congratulations to King Mohammed VI.
In his message, the US President recalled the state of relations between the United States and Morocco, noting that the bonds of friendship between the two countries date back a long time. "Our 235-year partnership, which was initiated by the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States and Morocco in 1786, has repeatedly affirmed the importance and value of mutual respect and cooperation," he said.
Biden said he was pleased "to learn that the recent commemoration of the bicentennial of our Legation in Tangier was an example of our enduring diplomatic relationship." He also expressed his satisfaction "at the prospect of deepening our common commitments, investing in mutual prosperity and building on this unwavering partnership."
For the United States, the common interest in peace and security and stability in North Africa "provides a solid foundation for continued collaboration and engagement."
