Biden Administration Unlikely to Reverse Trump’s Western Sahara Decision

The possibility that the Biden administration will call into question Donald Trump’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara can be ruled out. In an intervention this Monday, December 28, in Parliament, the head of government sought to reassure those who are wondering what will become of what some have called "Trump’s last gift to Morocco".
The head of the Executive was thus speaking during the monthly session dedicated to general policy issues and focused this Monday on developments in the national cause. "It is an unprecedented diplomatic achievement for our country and has blurred the tracks of the enemies of our territorial integrity," declared El Othmani. The head of government also recalled that Donald Trump’s decision has been recorded in the federal register, which serves as the Official Bulletin in the United States. The same decision, he adds, has been notified to the United Nations as the official position of the United States.
For Saâdeddine El Othmani, it is this achievement that has pushed the lobbies hostile to the Kingdom and well-paid, to devalue Donald Trump’s decision, going so far as to evoke a change of camp with the advent of the Biden administration. They tried to present this achievement as a "simple symbolic declaration" that will not be followed by legal effects.
During his presentation, the head of government listed all the initiatives that followed the decision of the American president, the latest of which was the announcement of the launch of preparations for the opening, soon, of an American consulate in Dakhla. The disinformation campaigns, carried out in the shadows by the enemies of Morocco, will not change what has become a truth.
