In Belgium, the Office of Foreigners recorded for the year 2018 nearly 13,000 administrative arrests of transit migrants. A record figure that far exceeds that of 2017.
These are 13,000 arrests and not the number of people who transited through Belgium in an attempt to reach England. Some migrants may have been arrested ten times a year, others never, writes 7 sur 7.
This increase in arrests reflects the quality of the efforts made by the police, now more supported against transit migration. Efforts encouraged by the authorities, with detentions that have been multiplied by 3 in one year for transit migrants, reports the same source.
