Belgium is banning non-essential travel abroad for its citizens, including Moroccans residing on its territory, starting Wednesday, January 27.
Belgium has decided to ban its population from non-essential travel outside its borders from Wednesday until March 1, a government source told AFP. This decision aims to curb the spread of the coronavirus and the variants that have recently appeared.
In a statement to the RTBF channel, another leader, Elio di Rupo, president of the Walloon region, specified that leisure or recreational travel is prohibited and that "there will be border controls with fines."
As of January 22, 2021, the Covid-19 report in Belgium shows 689,398 cases of contamination and 20,668 deaths.
