Belgian Drug Raid: Fake Police Steal 1.4 Tons of Cocaine from Major Crime Syndicate
Raid in Antwerp: fake cops steal a fortune in cocaine from Ridouan Taghi’s group. A gang of fake cops is sowing chaos in the criminal underworld of Antwerp and the Netherlands.
Two weeks ago, these individuals are said to have stolen a shipment of 1.4 tons of cocaine belonging to Taghi’s group, causing an escalation of tensions in the drug world.
At the end of August, a container full of cocaine arrived at the port of Antwerp. A driver is tasked with transporting the precious cargo to a warehouse in the Waasland region. But in Kemzeke, men posing as police officers intercept the truck and seize the drugs.
The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation and five searches have been carried out. One of them targeted the home of Abdelhakim E.M., alias Zotte Hakim, in Borgerhout. On the spot, the investigators discovered weapons and police uniforms, suggesting that the gang was operating from this address. Abdelhakim E.M. and an accomplice were arrested.
The owners of the stolen cargo, including Ridouan Taghi’s family, are conducting their own investigation to identify the informant who enabled the theft. Last Friday, a bomb exploded at Zotte Hakim’s home, an act likely related to the cocaine theft. Several similar incidents are said to have also occurred in the Netherlands.
