Belgian Drug Lord "The Algerian" Arrested in Morocco, Extradition Uncertain

Mohammed C., nicknamed " the Algerian ", a notorious figure in the drug trafficking milieu, has been arrested in Morocco, a piece of information confirmed by the Belgian authorities.
This criminal, convicted of a series of serious offenses, including drug trafficking and violence related to this environment, had been on the run until now. His arrest revives the debate on his possible extradition to Belgium, where he has already been tried and convicted. The story of "the Algerian" is well known in Morocco, as he is suspected of having paid to obtain Moroccan nationality.
The capture of Mohammed C. in Morocco is not an isolated event. He had already been arrested last year, but had escaped extradition and had been released. However, this new arrest could change the situation. It is part of a strengthened cooperation between Belgium and Morocco.
The visit of the Belgian Minister of Justice, Paul Van Tigchelt, to Morocco in early November played a crucial role in this case. During his stay, he addressed the issue of bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
