Belgian Child Killer Geneviève Lhermitte Dies by Euthanasia at 56

Sentenced in 2008 to life imprisonment for the murder of her five children, Geneviève Lhermitte died at the age of 56 on February 28. Married at the time of the events to the Moroccan Bouchaib Moqadem, the infanticidal mother was euthanized at the Léonard de Vinci hospital in Montigny-le-Tilleul.

Geneviève Lhermitte and Bouchaib Moqadem were leading a peaceful family life with their five children until that tragic day on February 28, 2007 when, taking advantage of her husband’s trip to Morocco, she knocked out and slit the throats of her five children aged 15 to 3 years old in the family home in Nivelles, Belgium.

Maître Nicolas Cohen, Geneviève Lhermitte’s lawyer, confirmed to the Belgian media that it was a case of euthanasia without going into details, reports Sudinfo. But the circumstances will be revealed on RTBF by André Lhermitte, the deceased’s uncle.
He explains that his niece was hospitalized for psychological suffering. "Life was no longer possible for her. She served her sentence 1,000 times in her head, people must understand. This is not a Christmas present. Euthanasia can be granted for physical but also psychological suffering."

Following the murder of her five children, the mother was sentenced by the Nivelles Assize Court to life imprisonment, then incarcerated in the Forest-Berkendael prison. She later benefited from conditional release to undergo psychiatric follow-up. The rest is this euthanasia that occurred on the 16th anniversary of the murder of the five children.

Since this tragedy, Bouchaïb Moqadem continues to mourn his children and goes to Morocco, whenever he has the opportunity, to pay tribute at the graves of Yasmine (15 years old), Nora (12 years old), Myriam (10 years old), Mina (7 years old) and Mehdi (3 years old).
