Beauty Salons Propose Health Measures for Safe Reopening Amid Pandemic

The beauty and hairdressing sector, after several months of shutdown, is gearing up for a resumption of activities. Pending the announcement of the date of the resumption, professionals are proposing health measures for a resumption without major incident.
According to the government, the resumption of activities in the beauty and hairdressing sector should take place after the reopening of stores and the adoption of several preventive measures, reports Medias24. For Hamid Benlamkadem, member of the National Coalition of the Hairdressing and Beauty Sector, they are most of the time in contact with customers.
According to him, they are faced with the problem of harmonizing security measures. If the large salons have about thirty armchairs, the small salons, the salons with hammams do not have enough, "which makes it difficult to develop a common plan for the resumption of activity," he added.
In this perspective, large hairdressing salons will be able to condemn about ten armchairs to avoid any risk of virus spread, and carry out disinfection operations of the premises once a week. As for the small salons, which have one or two armchairs, they cannot operate in the same way, and do not have the means to pay companies to disinfect their salons frequently. As for the salons with hammams, they will have to limit themselves, at first, to hairdressing and aesthetics," supports the same source.
Some measures to prepare for the reopening of hairdressing salons:
• Work by appointment (if possible);
• Provide the necessary disinfection products;
• Provide, in sufficient quantity, protective masks for employees;
• Keep a register to keep track of customer contact details;
• Avoid waiting armchairs when the salon area is small;
• Disinfect the workstations after each customer;
• Respect physical distancing between employees and customers;
• Wearing a mask is mandatory for customers;
• Use paper tissues;
• Put up awareness posters on prevention and protection measures against Covid-19.
In addition, masks and gloves must be changed after each customer.
