Barcelona’s Rising Star Sidelined: Yamal’s Injury Blow Shakes Champions League Hopes
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for two to three weeks due to a relapse of his pubic injury following the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Lamine Yamal is suffering from his pubic injury again. This relapse of his injury occurred after the 2-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last Wednesday. As a result, he will be unavailable "for two to three weeks," Barça said in a laconic statement. The 18-year-old winger will therefore miss the match against Sevilla FC on Sunday in La Liga. He is also uncertain for the Clasico against Real Madrid scheduled for October 26.
This new injury is also a blow for Spain. Called up on Friday morning by Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente for the next international break, the 2024 European champion will miss the two 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Bulgaria. The player who was ranked second in the Ballon d’Or after Paris Saint-Germain’s Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists in 4 La Liga matches this season.
