Barcelona Prodigy Lamine Yamal Marks One Year with Spanish National Team

Lamine Yamal completes a year with the Roja. The young Barcelona striker of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean origin had made his debut with the Spanish national team on September 8, 2023 against Georgia at the age of 16, definitively turning his back on Morocco, which had unsuccessfully tried to convince him to join the Atlas Lions squad.
Summoned by Luis de la Fuente for the matches against Georgia and Cyprus, Lamine Yamal made his debut with the Spanish national team on September 8, 2023 at the Boris Paichadze stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia, becoming the youngest player in history to start an official match with the Roja. Since then, Yamal has established himself with his talent and has found his place within the team, despite his young age. "His maturity is ahead of his age," the admiring De la Fuente confided about the young striker, who has experienced a meteoric rise in one year with the Roja, during which he has chained precocity records.
The player of Moroccan origin has recently become at 16 the youngest player and scorer in the history of the Euro. The Barcelona striker scored a goal and provided four assists in his first participation in the European championship. In one year with the Roja, Yamal has already scored 11 goals and provided seven assists, breaking Dani Olmo’s record of five goals and two assists in 648 minutes of play against 981 minutes for Lamine Yamal. The Barça prodigy, now 17 years old, was part of the starting lineup that will face Switzerland this Sunday in Geneva, as part of the second round of the Nations League.
