Real estate transactions are down 29.5% in Morocco. According to Bank Al-Magrhib and ANCFCC, the real estate asset price index (IPAI) fell year-on-year by 1.4% in the first quarter of 2020.

The dirham lost value during the month of April 2020, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM). It depreciated by 4% against the Euro and 5.47% against the US Dollar.

The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.54% against the euro and 0.19% against the dollar during the period from April 30 to May 6, 2020.

A few months after Fitch and Moody’s, the rating agency S&P Global Ratings has also confirmed at the "Investment grade" level, the "BBB-" rating of Morocco’s long-term foreign currency and local currency debt with a stable outlook.

Bank loans recorded a 5.3% increase at the end of March, compared to a 4.2% increase the previous month, for a total amount of 918.48 billion dirhams.

In a note on the monetary statistics for March 2020, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) indicates that bank credit increased, year-on-year, by 5.3%, after 4.2% in February. This development also covers an increase in loans to the non-financial sector of 6.4% in March against 4.9%.

During the period of April 16 to 22, the dirham appreciated by 2.61% against the euro and 2.17% against the dollar. This is according to an announcement made by Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) .

In a letter addressed to the Head of Government, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the President of the Professional Grouping of Banks of Morocco (GPBM), and the Wali of Bank Al Maghrib (BAM), the regional office of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH) in Fès-Meknès denounces "refusals to postpone bank credit deadlines by certain agencies".

In two weeks, Moroccan banks have received and processed nearly 400,000 requests for the deferral of loan installments, with a rejection rate not exceeding 4%, according to the Professional Group of Banks (GPBM) in a press release.
