Baccalaureate Pass Rate Dips to 63% in Morocco Despite Pandemic Measures

196,664 candidates were able to obtain their baccalaureate, a pass rate of 63.08%, compared to 65.55% in 2019. The Ministry of National Education announced this on Wednesday in a press release.
According to the details provided by the ministry, "the pass rate among girls reached 55.75% of the total admitted candidates, and 102,882 candidates obtained their baccalaureate with honors, i.e. 52.30% of all graduates". As for the best national average, it is 19.47/20, and was obtained in the Regional Academy of Education and Training of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra in the physical sciences branch, French section.
The best national average on the public education side is 19.35/20 and is in the physical sciences stream, obtained at the AREF of Beni Mellal-Khénifra. It should also be noted that the pass rate among candidates in the science and technology streams is 64.58% of all candidates who took the exams. As for the literature and original education streams, the pass rate is 61.33% of all candidates present, while it reaches 85.64% for the international baccalaureate and 54.02% for the vocational baccalaureate.
As for candidates with disabilities, their pass rate is 68.31%, that of free candidates is around 30.61%, compared to 21.9% in 2019. The makeup session concerns 99,782 candidates and will be held from July 22 to 25, and the results are expected on July 29.
The Ministry of Education congratulates all the actors who have played their part in the success of this baccalaureate exam session, which took place under exceptional conditions. It says it is awaiting the same civic spirit for the smooth running of the makeup session, which will be organized in compliance with the same preventive measures.
