Australia Names Michael Cutts as New Ambassador to Morocco, Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

The new Australian Ambassador to Morocco is Michael Cutts. Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne announced his appointment in a press release on Friday.
Australia and Morocco have had strong ties for many years. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were formalized in June 2017. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is impressed by this relationship, which is evolving in a climate of trust and renewed efforts. In the press release published on the ministry’s website, "Australia recognizes Morocco’s efforts in the fight against the spread of Covid-19 and appreciates the support provided to Australians for their repatriation during the pandemic."
Marise Payne also stated that in recent years, Morocco has been heavily invested in the global fight against terrorism and violent extremism, and "can count on Australia as a member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS."
She also explained that her country is keen to develop close economic relations with the Kingdom. "We recognize that Morocco is an important North African economy. We look forward to expanding our trade and investment links, particularly in food, agriculture, infrastructure and sustainable development," she stressed.
The new ambassador, Michael Cutts, holds a Master of Arts in Foreign Affairs and Trade, a Bachelor of Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Monash University, and a Graduate Diploma in Interpreting and Translation from Deakin University. He is a career diplomat who is replacing Berenice Owen-Jones, warmly thanked by Minister Marise Payne, the same source said.
