Atlas Lions Face Must-Win Battle Against Zambia to Keep CHAN 2024 Dreams Alive

After their defeat on Sunday against Kenya (0-1) during the third round of the group stage of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, the Atlas Lions will have to win against the Chipolopolos of Zambia this Thursday during the fourth round to secure their ticket for the round of 16.

Against Zambia this Thursday, Tarik Sektioui’s men will not have the right to make mistakes. The Moroccan team will have to correct the errors (defensive fragility and lack of offensive efficiency) that they paid dearly against Kenya to hope for a victory against a combative Zambian team, which has nothing to lose. The task will not be easy for the Atlas Lions who will probably be deprived of their center-forward Ayoub Mouloua, injured against Kenya.

Motivated after their victory against Angola (2-0) during the first round, Mehdi Harar’s teammates dominated the match against the Harambee Stars, but were unable to capitalize on their many chances. Defensively, the Moroccan team also showed signs of relaxation, which allowed the opponent to open the scoring.

For their part, the Chipolopolos, last in group A after two defeats against DR Congo (0-2) and Angola (1-2), approach this match with serenity. "Morocco is the favorite, but we have nothing to lose. We will play with courage and try to exploit their mistakes," said Israeli Avram Grant, the coach of the Zambian team.

Morocco will face Zambia this Thursday, August 14 at 1 pm local time. The match can be followed on the beIN Connect MENA HD, beIN Connect USA, beIN Sports MENA 6 HD and SuperSport Variety 2 HD channels.
