Two Arrested in Casablanca for Forged Vehicle Documents and Attempted Police Bribery

Two individuals were arrested in Casablanca for their alleged involvement in a case of forgery and use of forgery and attempted corruption of police officers.
The first suspect in this case was arrested in flagrante delicto in possession of a briefcase containing a large quantity of vehicle ownership certificates (in paper and biometric form) in the name of others, as well as a stamp in the name of a vehicle technical inspection company, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The investigations led to the arrest of his accomplice, the manager of a motorcycle inspection center in Casablanca. The modus operandi of the defendants consisted in modifying the engine capacity of the motorcycles, as recorded in the certificate of conformity, for use in Morocco, in order to avoid requiring their owners to have a driver’s license.
According to the same source, the first suspect tried to bribe the police officers who had initiated the procedures for his arrest, in exchange for his release.
Pending the determination of all the criminal acts with which they are charged and the elucidation of the ins and outs of this case, the two defendants have been taken into custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, adds the same source.
