Argentine Fury Erupts as Chilean Fans Sabotage U20 World Cup Final
Before and throughout the final of the U20 World Cup between Morocco and Argentina on Monday at the Santiago stadium in Chile, Chilean supporters whistled the Argentine team. And this gesture, the Argentines are not about to forgive!
The Argentine team led by Diego Placente was booed by Chilean supporters during the U20 World Cup. Before the final against Morocco on Monday, the Chilean public showed that they wanted to support the Atlas Lions.
When the Argentine national anthem was played, Chilean supporters in the stands began to whistle and intensified their whistles until the end of the song. And that’s not all. Throughout the match, Chilean and Moroccan supporters continued to whistle the Argentine players on every offensive action, reports mdzol.
This attitude was repeated during set pieces, protests against Italian referee Maurizio Mariani, and especially after the foul committed by Santino Barbi in the early minutes of the match, which led to Morocco’s first goal.
The Atlas Lions defeated the Argentine team in the final of the U20 World Cup by a score of 2-0, winning the world title for the first time in their history and thus preventing the young Argentines from being crowned champions for the seventh time.
